We’re back to Flore’s apartment at long last!
I never tire of drawing this place. Every strip should take place there.
…poor Flore. For those who forgot what this “nightmare scenario” was about, just check out this older comic.
Panels 2 and 3 took a lifetime to make, so all of my next strips will focus on a single character living in a white void or something. With lots of copy and paste.
Seriously though. Next week is gonna be a Christmas interlude. :)
Please vote for me on Top Web Comics! I’ve been dropping from the rankings lately. I need all the help I can to stay visible!
And don’t forget to comment, follow me on Twitter or like the Facebook page!
No party is complete without apocalyptic tentacled Hell-beasts.
Nor pizza. ^_^
Oh, definitely not without pizza…
…although the apocalyptic tentacled Hell-beats DO have some awesome party tricks…
No Goth and Metal-head party is truly complete without a hell-beast or two.
Did you notice his box is actually in the third panel?
I see a box in the third panel.
Yup
It counts for the tag cloud. (Right?)
I don’t see it, where in the 3rd panel?
On the desk. Same as where it was last time.
Do you have the layouts of the appartment(s) thought out too?
I really like the detail, noticing a lot more now that I’m rereading.
And one day we will all discover that she lives far from the city and that everybody goes to Flore’s place even if it’s difficult and long to go there :P lol
P.S.: I really like the paint in the entrance :)
More likely it’s some kind of olden day advertising poster.
Yup! I always loved those things.
That’s one downside to reading comments 4.5 years after they’re written, half the links don’t work anymore.
Actually no, she lives on Arago street. Flore and Liliane easily got there on foot in the second chapter. :)
Arago Street? Sounds like a name out of a fantasy novel.
Quebec City is a fantastic land.
Nice work on the call-back. Thankfully for her, most of the rest are getting coffee…
…They’ll be along later… }:D
Thanks. That one comic constantly gets referenced, it seems.
In your opening comment on that strip, you said:
“A growing Frivolesque audience makes me motivated to work on this even harder.”
Is it working?
Well, Frivolesque keeps going, right?
Ugh; the voice I read all Agnes’ lines in grates on me. Pretty sure it’s not how she’s supposed to sound, but it perfectly matches my preconceptions of how a gal who dresses the way she does sounds.
Like a 50s sitcom nosy neighbour? Yeah their voices are annoying.
She would sound like Millie Helper from the Dick Van Dyke Show.
If only she looked like Mary Tyler Moore…
I’m sure she looks much better.
I voted in the Top Webcomics and Frivolesque is 39th place.
I want to know what that nightmare scenario is.
This perhaps…
http://frivolesque.com/archives/comic/133-excess
I think it might be more this one, where more & more people just keep showing up…
Nope. Wrong one. This can’t be the right nightmare since there’s actually less people in there than there are in her apartment right now. ;)
Screwball got the right one.
Yay me :3 :P
You’re good!
Here’s the comic in question! :)
Just a few people short of a nightmare… (brrr…)
I really like the Art Nouveau poster ad in the first frame! It reminds me of when I would visit some of my friends’ house as a child and they had those kind of posters on their wall. Those images always fascinated me.
Yeah, my mom had that picture in our house when I was young and I always liked it. Well, every poster you see at Flore’s is an actual poster my mom liked to decorate the house with. It’s mostly nostalgic for me.
It’s by Alphonse Mucha, who made many such posters. If you look, you may find a modern reproduction for sale online.
Nope. Not Mucha. He had a very distinct style. This old poster was from another advertisement artist of the time, Theophile Steinlein.
We should consider if Flore’s daydreams are some sort or untapped premonition ability.
Flore might have strange powers.
She has seen her white version, Laurence, interacting with The Bear, plus we & other characters have seen Laurence in their world, so it is a possibility…
Gotta love Flore’s choices in art. One has to appreciate her calm so far. Stay strong dear girl.
Flore always remains calm, if a bit tense once a while.
And glad you like her taste for cubism and art nouveau. :)
Flore’s not THAT crazy… she at least admits having catastrophic scenarios even though she still does exaggerate that she’s “a few persons short”.
Also, funny how Mimi and her Mommy share almost the exact same expression XD
Agnes raised her daughter well.
Clem in three panels, Flore in four. I’m happy.
Clem looks a bit awkward i panel three, and Flore’s expression in panel four is priceless.
Nice observations.
Voted again and Frivolesque is in 42nd place.
Hooray, Chloe’s bro saved Flore from that scenario – for now…
He’s useful like that.
Hmm, is this the first time I’ve seen Chloe without her hat. She looks so .. naked without it.
No way.
She appears without a hat many times before this. You just didn’t notice.
She never wears it when she’s home for starters.
Hmm, now I’ll have to read the whole archive again just to check :P
I did check to see that last time she was at Flore’s she wore her hat, though.
*holds fingers crossed that I can comment, cause my last two comments made from another computer haven’t shown up*
I swear, she appears without a hat in strip 20. Also doesn’t wear one in strip 36 when she is playing the PS4 at her place!
Haha, yeah, I already encountered some links later in the comments that also proved my memory has gaps. Funny how memory works. And confirmation bias.
I’d just gotten so used to seeing her with her hat I couldn’t imagine her without it anymore :P
