72 – Rent
Gaia and Saki are enjoying a bit of chit chat on the way back home.
I could have simply made the girls walk in front of a hedge or a brick wall, but nooooooo, I had to spend hours drawing a ton of advertisement posters instead. I sure love making my life harder. Shout out to my friends Betty Cayenne, the Burlestacular queen of fire and Zidara9, Rémi Paradis’s awesome sci-fi anthology fanzine, now forever featured as Frivolesque background elements. :)
If you like Frivolesque, please don’t forget to give me comments, or to like the facebook page.
I know there’s a bunch of people reading it, but I’d love to have more feedback.
still loving the comic! gaia is oblivious and perfect :)
Gaia just wants to make friends. She couldn’t possibly believe Saki is spying on her. ^^
Thank you for still loving what I do!
Gaia is not oblivious enough to miss a chance at cutting her expenses. And, pretty please, a bath scene with Saki and Gaia?
A… bath scene?
Like one of these Japanese public bath?
Because I’m pretty sure the old bathtub at their apartment can’t hold the two of them. ^^
Hmmm… One could be in the bath while the other is by the sink. With just a towel strategically placed for modesty.
*nosebleed*
I’ll see what I can do.
The second and third panels are my fav!
Love Saki’s face angle on the second and Gaia’s expression on the third one <3
Keep up the amazing job ;D
Thank you Tsuyuyu! <3
I'll keep the amazing job as long as you continue to inspire me. <3
I’m just curious, when you started this whole comic more than a year ago, were you ever considering posting it all in French instead of English?
The comic is actually bilingual. I made the whole thing both in french and english since the very start. I made the english site first with the whole international audience in mind.
And… I kinda ended up lacking the time and skills to make the website bilingual too. (I suck at wordpress…)
But I want to do it as soon as possible.
Gaia and Saki are really expressive in that panel! I love it!
The cameo posters in the background are really nice too! ;)
Merci Ben! :)
I understand what you mean, I too have a compulsion to add lots of detail. And Vancouver? That hole?
P.S.
How did you set up this website? I want to start posting some stuff as well…
I thought Vancouver would be fitting since she’s Asian-Canadian… What’s wrong with Vancouver?
The site is just a WordPress running the comic easel plugin.
Oh Vancouver is OK, I live here (by which I mean Greater Vancouver). It’s a bit expensive, though I don’t how it compares to Quebec City.
WordPress, eh? Thanks, I’ll look into that
I like Vancouver, but I would probably get a headache from all the French in Quebec. My own ignorance tends to enrage me a little.
Calgary was my favorite of the 3 Canadian cities I visited, but Edmonton and Vancouver had much better humidity for my tastes.
No offense, but this is a puzzling behavior I’ve often seen among Americans. (I assume you’re american? lol)
Getting enraged, or upset, at people speaking other languages. (especially when they’re not talking to you) There’s so many languages on this planet, and they’re fascinating to me.
I am. Yeah, I’ve noticed that a lot of my countrymen make fools of us all by being annoyed at people using languages other than English. I don’t; I just get annoyed that I don’t speak every language ever. I’m not sure which is dumber, but they both rank pretty high on the stupid-o-meter.
I guess it’s all a question of cultural background… Europeans are used to live so close to each other and they all speak different languages… While Canada has the whole English / French thing…
Americans are culturally raised in a single language reality. Aside from all the spanish in the south, but for some reason, you guys seem to be more tolerant of spanish than other languages. XD
Some of us. I think it’s mostly because in the areas where it’s prevalent, it’s inescapable. I count it among my very few fluently spoken languages, so I don’t mind it, but I do overhear grousing about it often enough.
Heh… Spanish knowledge makes French simultaneously easier and harder to process, hence the headache. Portuguese is even more painful to try, though. Still, if I managed training myself to read right to left without discomfort, language will come eventually too.
Spanish isn’t just in the south. There are non English speaking mexicans everywhere, & that’s the problem. There are several cuss words in Spanish everyone knows. Some mexican will start spewing Spanish at you and you can pick out “Bi##h” or “Pus##y” so you get the jest of what there saying. That is where most people’s problem is with other languages.
Instead of you freeloading and us pretending that’s okay.
It’s always okay in a comic.
Comic characters tend to get away with so much crap we’d hate them for in real life.
My sugar Momma time is over yours is just beginning
Re-reading it due to this week’s comic does give panel 3 a different tone.
