78 – Networking
Heres a touch of the modern world.
And some Clementine for those who always ask me for more of her. :)
Also including a random blurry foreground character because I like experimenting. :)

Clementine is such a cutie!
This seems to be the general feeling. :)
Yes, so much yes, shes basically how i dream i’d look.
With the glasses and headphones too?
This is one of the most accurate things I have seen in a while. Also Clementine is so adorable!
Smartphones and social networking are surprisingly nonexistant in fiction because they ruin so many plots. ^^
Well they do tend to ruin many traditional tropes.
But they’re so synonymous with the modern world!
I agree. According to an article I read on Cracked.com, just about all sitcoms from the 80s and 90s wouldn’t make sense today since people didn’t have cellphones back then; they either had to use their home or office phone or a payphone. The plots were created with the then-current technological limitations in mind.
You can just have people forget their phone, or have it run out of juice at the right time.
I don’t think it would make much of a difference to most plots, actually. Only the ones were you need to let someone know something but they’re far away. More often the problem is people not trying to communicate at all, rather than lacking means.
I haven’t had this happen often. Quite rarely with my work on Nadeshicon. You mentioned my favourite name, so I’m happy :)
Marie-Neige? ^^
I don’t think I’d ever buy a pair of Beats but I don’t think I could resist a pair of Deats.
Deats by Dez.
I like the girl on the bench a lot.
She’s inspired by a girl I know in real life.
She hails from Montreal, though, so I wonder why she’s waiting for the bus in Quebec City…
on her way back?
With a city bus? I didn’t know the 801 could go all the way to Montreal. XD
Isn’t she the one who was telling that red haired girl in the background that she was just a supporting character before? The convo that Clementine overheard…
More of those two… even if at least one of them is an interpretation of a real person.
Yup, that’s her.
Motion Blur on Flore?
More like foreground blur…
She’s on her way to the next comic.
Or rather, the one after that.
Its a neat effect, nice touch.
Poor Clementine, I would only say those things if I already knew her. I have the overwhelming need to give her a comfort hug.
Frederic is too easygoing a guy to care about such things.
In his mind, he sees her posts on Facebook all the time, he knows her. :)
I’ve met people like that more often than I’d like. It’s unnerving to have people I’ve never met know me when I don’t know them.
Sometimes, I know people but I don’t engage them because I know they don’t know me. It’s weird.
Observe the token social niceties then just get on with your life.
It is about the only practical thing to do.
I get it a lot at work… people who have e-mailed me for help with something and I’ve helped them out. To me they’re just a faceless client. But sometimes they start acting like they know me all of a sudden. I don’t apply the effort to disabuse them of that notion… though neither do I reinforce it.
One of my most favorite Frivolesque of yours… the background feels alive, Flore racing on the foreground, yet something happens in the middle-ground, it’s quite crowded and the comic beats are really well worked. In fact it may be my favorite Frivolesque of all. Congratulations and I can’t wait to see what tomorrow brings :)
Thanks, Simon. :)
Ah, kids and their little Facebook, I swear… And yes, I really like compositions here as well
Thank you Maxim. You have no idea how happy I am to know that you like my comic. ^^
It’s not stalking if it’s on the front page of your facebook.
Agreed. Although I don’t think Clementine posts her front page details publicly. ;)
Friends of Friends?
I really like how she is scrared on the last panel.
I have people like that on my facebook, they are friends of my friends and I always read about them. And when I saw one of them one day, I almost said Hi! :P
Some people don’t realice privacy is a thing of the past with Facebook. :)
she blush so softly like she is deciding whether to treat him like a stalker or fall in love with him because he knows so much about her
A good (if mild) example of a reason not to be on Facebook.
hi…um, sorry for last time, i didnt know what i was doing and i immensly regret what i wrote. i swear i wont do it again. Frivolesque is amaziiiiiiiiing!!
Don’t worry, kid!
Just remember the golden rule! Act on the internet the same way you would act in real life. :)
if i had remembered that golden rule, i’d never have written these things. i cant apologize enough. and now every time i’ll see you at a party or something, im going to be sooo embarrassed.
