328 – Rage
Sorry, Tisiphone. Saki is tired of your shit.
Seems like that tanto knife was hidden inside of Saki’s jacket… which means Eleonore is the real MVP of this rooftop encounter!

Looks like Tisiphone only has superstrength, but not super regeneration (unlike Rhea, who was still very concious after multiple gunshots and chainsaw wounds).
So I suppose now Liliane will arrest her or something.
And girls will have so many things to discuss =)
a bit more complicated than that actually.
but I think if Liliane has to arrest someone, that would be Phoebe.
because she’s what Liliane’s investigating for.
So, is this a comic where characters don’t die unless they’re stabbed through the heart or is a punctured lung enough to kill a character?
Also congratulations to Saki for winning her first on-panel fight against an opponent more competent than goons. :-) She’s really pale now. Looks like Laurence might be needed for emergency healing only.
As long as the blade isn’t pulled out before the surgeon gets to it, it should prevent too much extra blood loss, but if she or someone else pulls it out like they foolishly do in many TV, movie and video-games, it will only makes things worse and cause the victim to bleed to death.
Okay, that’s interesting. I didn’t think that lungs could regenerate this well. But since our skin can get scarred from big wounds like this one I expect that that’s true for lungs, too, so someone who had a wound like that won’t be able to use 100% of their former lung capacity, or am I wrong?
Not an expert on lungs but as long as the weapon stays in it will slow down how bad things can get, but she is gonna need help either way.
Alright, thanks for explaining anyway. I hope they’ll all survive. I don’t like Marie-Lune (not even in a “love to hate” manner), but dying through overconfidence would be underwhelming.
The immediate problem would, I think, be if air got in through the hole and collapsed the lung. On the other hand breathing with a knife in your lung can’t be that good either.
People have two lungs though, so I don’t think it needs to be fatal (as long as the other one doesn’t fill with blood from the first).
Btw: If I had expected that move, I totally would’ve expected Marie-Lune to say Gauche instead of hidden blade. Is there a reason why she doesn’t seem to be familiar with that term? Is it because otherwise she should’ve expected it?
And does she have a huge cavity in panel 3? Wait no, that’s blood. :-)
Isn’t a gauche used for parrying?
Quite. Many weren’t even sharp, not even a point (why sharpen something only to dull it immediately by using it for its intended purpose). Punching, however…
Sorry, Marie-Neige, Saki killed your rival.
I think she’d be thrilled. And possibly aroused.
OH MY
Go Saki!
Daniel here. So that’s;
*1 that’s been ran through with something usually not used for stabbing (life threatening)
*1 that’s taken a serious blow to the head & went down despite extreme resilience, however if Regeneration can do it’s job fast enough AND NOT PUT HER BACK TOGETHER WRONG, she could still survive (life threatening, but with higher chances of survival)
*1 that’s taken a Coward’s Punch (Aussie name for a punch deliberately thrown at someone who doesn’t know it’s coming), thrown out of a window, bled noticeably while being chased down the street, smacked around a bit, mostly blocked a blow from a crowbar but not with out getting clipped a bit, THEN passes out after stabbing the primary threat (BADASS, but still rather life threatening)
*finally 1 that tracked them to that location via camera-hacking-partner (didn’t follow obvious blood trail?), stabbed Phoebe with a crowbar before pulling it out, knocked out Gaia with a surprisingly strong blow to the head, scored a glancing hit with a mostly blocked swing against Saki, stepped on Saki’s glasses (HERESY!!!!!) then blocked Saki’s obvious attack before going down to the hidden surprise attack (potentially fatal stab)
Most people have their heart slightly to the left of their chest, however there are people who’s internal organ layout mirrors that of everyone else, so the heart is slightly to the right. If Mary-Lune is 1 of those people, that could be potential heart damage. And even if it’s not, that’s at least a pierced lung, breathing would become difficult, blood would foam out the mouth, the pain could bring you down too…
I did a 1st aid course when I was younger, Instructor wasn’t afraid of gory details, plus I did some research… :p
It’s like the end of Hamlet, if Shakespeare had a meganekko fetish.
I should take this as a compliment.
Conroy will arrive just in time to watch the ambulances depart…
And Laurence will be like “Your friends are in grave danger… oh wait, nevermind, they’re good. Let’s get back to our conversation”.
Well, it’s likely that Eleonore called an ambulance and/or the police by now, but I still predict that Best Girl is going to get to do something, too.
Nice one, Saki! :D
Struck like a true ninja; where the enemy did not think to look.
How unpleasant.
Not Saki’s fault that Tisiphone got overconfident. ^_^
A knife to the lungs really is unpleasant, I imagine. So that was quite the appropriate thing to say.
The first panel has made it apparent to me that Saki would look really good with some streaks of color in her hair.
So double K.O.?
Anyhoo, samurai typically carried two swords in a pairing called the daisho: a long sword (usually a katana) and a short sword (either a tanto or more recently a wakizashi). Saki kept her opponent’s attention focused on the long sword before giving her the short end of the stick so to speak.
I can’t help but be a little disappointed that Gaia was, for lack of a better word, completely useless, other than as a distraction to Phoebe and Marie-Lune.
Granted, distracting Phoebe did save Elly. But I’d hoped to see some of that super-human power in action, instead she gets upstaged by Saki’s fighting skill and clever use of a surprise dagger.
Well, Frivolesque isn’t really a fighting comic, haha. Also, I wanted Saki to shine a bit more this time since we never got to see her do much, while Gaia is usually on top of her game even if she’s not doing actual fighting. They still finished this fight side by side though.
