…
Phoebe seems to have a lot of resentment inside…
Seems like Gaia’s escape from the lab was messier than we thought.

It’s getting dark. So it turns out Gaia also has blood on her hands? I never would have guessed.
If anything, I might have been more surprised if Gaia never had blood on her hands.
Maybe I’ll illustrate this story someday.
TIL that Phoebe believes in speciesism while Gaia doesn’t anymore.
At least they’re not doing lengthy backstory exposition in between time dilated microseconds of each punch…
Ah man. This is the thing I hate the most about American comics. Those fight dialogues. They never made any sense to me.
Are you suggesting that “talking ISN’T a free action?”
Seems Phoebe’s Talk no Jutsu is stronger than anticipated.
Nah, she’s wrong on two accounts:
1. She likely talked about the guards they had to escape from, so not exactly innocent people. Slaughtering them is more along the lines of self-defense and helping her family get to freedom.
2. People change. Even if she did kill innocents back then, she doesn’t have to stay like that forever just to be “consistent”.
She doesn’t have to be right to get a rise out of her sister.
How very Violet Evergarden …
How so? I’m not familiar with it…
Short version is, Violet was a feral child, then a soldier. Had no understanding of people nor any empathy, killed a whole lot of enemy soldiers with no remorse.
Then peace came, she started living a more normal life, and she learned. And her past came crashing down on her.
It’s a really good anime, I recommend it.
I can also recommend it.
Although I don’t really see any parallels with the story here.
…. I am suspicious that perhaps we’ve just discovered the driving reason that Marie-Lune is hunting them.
You might have something there.
Call me jaded, but I think Marie-Lune would take any excuse to slaughter some enemies. Preferably some that give her a good aerobic exercise.
I guess Phoebe’s not working for human task-masters anymore then, even though I strongly suspect she was created by humans.
Welp. That officially puts Phoebe in the “kill her” category. No reason the rest of the world should be at risk of her xenophobic dismissal.
Well, I suppose she lived all her life in a high-security facility where she was constantly brainwashed with who knows what ideology. She was also told that she’s worthless and should have never been born, and she somehow lost a limb and was most likely just used as a test specimen and/or a living weapon. I think that responsibility is entirely on those who did this to her.
If magical girls have taught me anything, it’s that you just need to punch your enemies long enough until eventually they see the error of their ways and you become best friends.
Don’t write her off as a genocidal time-bomb waiting to happen just yet. Gaia can punch some sense into her. She can punch real hard.
