298 – Scar
And now you know.
Marie considers this blemish to take away from her ideal image, so she keeps it wrapped up to create a mysterious “broken doll” look.
All things considered, though, maybe her mom is right this time in spite of her total lack of consideration.

Better on your arm than on your face.
John Conroy has one on his face and he doesn’t seem to mind.
Depending on the scar, it can look cool or just disfiguring and it is usually less appealing to see a scar on a female face in part cos it looks like a man failed to protect her properly.
… I have found quite a few people named John Conroy, but none of them seems to be the one you’re talking about. Who are you referring to?
The one who is a character in this webcomic you’ve been reading? Saki’s partner!
Oh! LOL. I can’t really keep track of the minor characters.
That explains a lot of stuff.
I’d never have guessed she actually had a reason to wear those bandages.
That’s a pretty big scar.
Now imagining Marie-Neige dancing around an ice palace singing.
Snow Princess Yuki
So Marie got her scar when she was 12 or something, but in issue #175 Chloe acts oblivious about her bandages… Yet we clearly see in issue #147 that they knew each other before Marie got injured.
So what does that mean? Marie managed to conceal her injury back when she was a kid, even from her BFF? Or maybe Chloe actually knows and was just making fun?
WE NEED TO KNOW THIS IS AN IMPORTANT CONTINUITY QUESTION
Chloe knows. She was making fun of the fact she hides it.
Yeah, I’m going to have to side with her mom on the merits this time (if not on the style).
After all, if Padma Lakshmi can be, well, Padma Lakshmi with a huge scar all over one arm, there’s no reason why Marie-Neige can’t be Marie-Neige with hers.
Wow, I didn’t know that girl, but it’s oddly similar!
Wow, I have the exact same scar. I was walking around an old artillery battery and slipped on a faux-wood stair (they’re designed to look like logs) and caught a handrail before falling completely- but a sharp rock beside the trail gauged me, breaking the skin and if it had been any deeper would have cut about 3″ of vein length-wise. If it had, the blood loss at such a remote location could have been bad. Mine healed up far better than hers did though.
Ack.
I only have two scars, but thinking about those gives me shivers.
Only two? That’s rather impressive.
I’ve got a bunch from martial arts, roughhousing as a child, school, training mishaps, and such, but my favorite is probably the three parallel lines along my collarbone from when my cat was perched on my shoulder and got startled into falling off by a low-flying plane. Digging in failed to preserve her balance but did leave me pretty upset for a few days.
Wow, she’s got a scar too? Daniel the Human has a scar on his left forearm, just below his elbow. It’s shaped like a wonky “T” of red, twisted skin. Smaller than hers tho. She doesn’t seem proud of hers tho, Daniel the Human is definitely proud of his. Apparently he put it through the back window of the car that hit him, yet just got back up right after. “Not even a car can stop me…”
He scares me at times…
