188 – Truth
Noelle is back!
It’s that time of the year again, and for the FIRST TIME IN THE HISTORY OF THIS COMIC, the holidays are happening at the same time in real life and in the Frivolesque universe. Which means I can have a proper Christmas-themed strip that’s not just our 4th Wall breaking girl Laurence talking about stuff, or Chloe dreaming of Yuletide adventures.

Who’s the Blue Girl of many jobs impersonating? I never thought Santa has a young female assistant. Russian analog has, though.
Broken Heart symbol again. Maybe it’s just some popular trademark, not connected with any shadow organizations?
And because someone has to tell it: lapsitting business would be way more pleasant with Noelle.
Ah! I know this would make some people curious. She is playing the part of “la fée des étoiles” (the star fairy?) which, as far as I know, is a French Canadian invention. She basically is a young female assistant for mall Santas. There isn’t much information about her, but maybe she only exists to make kids seem more comfortable around Santa, since a young attractive lady is way less intimidating than a big bearded individual.
That’s fine. Our young female assistant is a granddaughter of, uhm… Grandfather… Frost? He has no wife, no children, but he has a granddaughter. That’s a mystery.
Yeah, I know her. She is actually supposed to appear in my big Christmas story that I’m hoping to make next year.
Niece of Santa Lucia maybe?
I immediately recognized La Fée des Étoiles and thought people from outside Québec would wonder who that was. Maybe even younger readers from the province since it seems elves have been progressively replacing here in malls since the 90’s.
Yeah. I didn’t want to put her in the comic since, like, you said, Christmas Elves have pretty much phased her out in mall in recent years, but nostalgia made me change my mind even if I knew it’d puzzle some people.
I dunno why they’re phasing her out. Either feminism, or blatant Americanization of our society, I guess.
I much prefer this compared to short guys. even if you have to explain i rather things like this. part of it could be because girl of many jobs is gorgeous in this.
As some one who had no idea of who she is and isnt canadian.
Don’t worry, elves are slightly cheaper now, but they are not a lasting competition. La fille se lèvera de nouveau.
The last thing we need is people sexually harassing the Noelle impersonators especially from guys offering her their laps to sit on.
Don’t worry about it, there’s nothing a pepper spray can’t solve.
Unless they developed an immunity to it like Quagmire did.
Let me guess – Is the purpose of “la fée des étoiles” to rescue Santa from the Chimneys that he gets stuck in? Or is that my cynical “Anglais” mind acting up again ?
i doubt so. The Fée des Étoiles doesn’t usually follow Santa outside of shopping malls.
Xue? Nice to see another recurring background character.
That glasses store must be making serious BANK.
Considering the commonality in your character design. :)
I am sure that the only place in the Frivolesqueverse where you can get glasses is called “Boutique de lunettes Dez” because the founder will not stand any competition in his source of income…
So, every character here has appeared in previous strips, except for the Santa….unless….my gawd, is that Conroy?
If it is, the make-up artists did a terrific job covering his scar.
Y’know Chloe could just say she’s Santa. She’s done at least half the work since Noelle took over. I do have to wonder if that’s a fourth jobs girl or if Green somehow made it to the north pole and shrunk herself in order to apply for an elf position.
The things you have to do to hold a job nowadays…
And it’s just seasonal work, so she’ll have to look for something else again soon.
Elf of many jobs.
