66 – Men
Yes, absolutely.
Today’s Frivolesque features two dudes talking about a girl we all know.
You might remember those two from previous strips where they made brief appearances, but this is their first “starring” role.
Will they ever become recurring characters?
well, your comic more than passes the Bechdel test.
But it doesn’t pass the reverse test. ;)
I was just about to remark on this.
Are you doing it deliberately?
Blatant reverse-bechdel failure usually indicates absolute Yuri.
Of course. Male characters bore me.
Frivo isn’t a huge yuri fest though. Even though some of my readers wish it was.
im going to ignore this because its fun. not that i directly support yuri in fact im against it but im objective so its still fun
Hi Dez, I just found out about your comic (slowpoke), and I.AM.LOVING.IT!!
Marie-Naige is such a funny and awesome character :D I had to bookmark your page, thank you for your hard work!
Thank you! Where did you find out about my comic? :)
I’m so glad you love it. Marie-Neige sadly isn’t scheduled to appear much in the next few months. But I got some larger story arcs for her after that. :)
Some guys were taking about it on a 4chan board a few weeks ago.
I can’t wait for Marie’s arcs! Great job!
Wow. I noticed that thread on 4chan, but the people didn’t seem to like my comic too much there so I didn’t post anything.^^
Glad some did!
If 4chan pays attention to you either way, you’ve made it on the internet. ;) That having been said Id like to see the link to that convo if it still exists.
^^^
The tread must have 404’d by now. But as you say, 4chan is pretty much the Internet’s Hollywood.
Indeed, the thing is sadly gone. But I got many hits from it.
I hope I can make it to 4chan again someday. ;)
It should be archived, assuming it was on a blue board. I’d search archive.moe for posts containing the word ‘frivolesque,’ starting with the /co/ (Comics & Cartoons) board.
Okay, I just did that, and the only hits were from /u/ (Yuri). I guess the archive isn’t limited to blue boards.
Beer placement on the 23rd. I’m guessing that it was already planned out to have such liquids on such a celebration in Qubec.
Pfft. Everyday is a good day for beer.
Dez, I can foresee that you are going to use the shoujo background with these two.
Hfurhurhurhurhurhur~
What makes you say that?
I don’t know. It was the first thing that came to mind after reading this strip. A premonition. Hehehe.
Clever man.
Dudes wearing frilly scarves never can manage very good threats, I find.
It’s a Keffiyeh! Frederic is hip enough to wear one.
…Although yeah, definitely not the most threatening guy in the comic. ;)
Oh. Well, that makes it a lot better then.
ElectricGecko, crazy seeing you here! You do Puck, right? I’m a huge fan! It’s great to see people I read reading the stuff I read. It makes me feel like everything’s connected in a most wonderful way.
I am EVERYWHERE! Actually, I’m sort of really terrible at keeping up with my fellow webcomic types, though I have my favourites. Glad to hear you actually read my stuff!
Your stuff is quite nice!
I should do an archive binge someday just because you support me so well!
Well, I support you mainly because you live in my all-time favourite city. ;) Well, that and your awesome art chops, appealing characters and the pervading sense of fun which you inject in all of your comics. But favourite city’s a big part too.
You’re Canadian too, if I remember correctly, right?
Pray tell, what to you like so much about Quebec City? :)
And thank you so much. <3
My god… Do you even realize how rare it is to read something so eloquent as your second sentence on the internet these days?
Sorry. It’s completely off-topic, but it needed to be noted.
I’m quite lucky to have Gecko here. :)
The presence of any fellow webcomic artist that I respect is really flattering.
What I love about Quebec? There are not enough words to describe it, just as there are not enough words to describe how much I dislike Montreal. But yeah, architecture is gorgeous, city is just cool-looking, the people are friendly and outrageously attractive (when compared to the rest of North America, anyway), the vibe is laid back, the cool steep architecture gives me a San Fransisco vibe, the food is amazing, the play equipment outside the art museum is great for my kids… I dunno. So many reasons.
We stayed there in the summer for a week, in an apartment just a minute’s walk from rue Saint-Jean. I’d go grab an espresso every morning, hit the chocolate store with the kids, buy our groceries at the world’s oldest grocer, and explore the old town on foot every day. It was wonderful. My kids keep asking when we can return. I’m impatient to get back too. Though I’ve never been to Quebec in the winter, and I’ve heard that’s no fun.
I’m from Hamilton. It’s actually a really nice city in some ways; similar size to Quebec, but no attractive buildings, few attractive people, and replace all the nice, civilized government jobs with industrial shift work. Kind of an anti-Quebec. Maybe that’s why I love your city so much.
Yes! Fight!
Someone already beat me with reverse Bechdel test comment…
Also: sipping beer on a patio? a hip scarf? long sideburns? HIPSTER ^^
He is quite borderline hipsteriffic…
I warning you I have a black belt in taichi.
I could see Frederic being into something like that.
Gotta sleep sometime, sport. ;)
