Yeah, it’s gonna be hard to explain this one when you’re not understanding it yourself.
And we’re actually referencing an old strip here.
Yes, in case you haven’t been paying attention, it’s been winter in the Frivolesque universe for a while now. (It started snowing in strip 186) I guess I do so many interior scenes, people get confused when the girls step outside and we get to see snow. ;)

How does one just forget a sister especially if she is one of twins?
It’s a matter of “selective disbelief”. I have several relatives, (and many non-relatives), who’ll swear I don’t exist … to my face!
Liliane seems to prefer to ignore what she can’t cope with. Like fact fact that her green haired friend here is not a normal human, and her bosses would expect Liliane to “contain” her.
Twins! That’s it. It explains why Liliane always wears sunglasses too. Liliane has crossed-eyes and sees double so she always thought Laurence was just a double image of Flore! :)
Your theory would have worked better with identical twins not fractal twins.
Joke – not theory. And that is only one of the many flaws in it. :)
Hahahahaha, poor Dez. XD
Did you poke fun at his tendency to draw cross-eyes on purpose?
No, but it seems like you are. Dez knows I love his work.
Thank you Tami.
Fractal twins?
I know you probably mean fraternal, but now I really want to think of what sort of concept “fractal twins” could refer to.
Your fractal twin is a special case of conjoined twins, where your fractal twin is attached and much smaller. Too small for you to see easily, your twin also has a similarly smaller tein attached in the same place. etc.
Sounds legit. I forget how many sisters I have all the time.
But really, Liliane is the boss of a government secret shadow agency, she could have been a bit more convincing) Especially with a superhuman who is most likely connected with some dangerous criminals.
“Everything is totally normal.” = “Pay no attention to the man man behind the curtain.” = “Nothing to see here. Move along.”?
Category: Phrases that create more suspicion than they remove.
“Oookay”
“A sister! Obi-Wan was wise to hide her.”
I do remember that in strip 220, the last panel was clearly showing snow, so sure enough, it’s winter time.
My question, though: hating Fall and Winter, why didn’t you just go the extra mile and made this comic entirely set in Summer?
Because Winter is too much of an important reality of the life in Quebec to ignore. Also, being perpetually set in summer would prevent me from using a variety of seasonal outfits.
I don’t hate fall, BTW. Fall by itself is a nice season. But it ends summer and ushers winter, which I truly hate.
I like that all the bugs are dead in winter.
I don’t like the cold much, but I hate really hot weather more. And at least you can dress against the cold. To dress against heat you need something like a spacesuit.
But I think your winters are generally colder, so I can see why you’d like them even less.
Is Liliane confused or just feeling totally incompetent at the idea of having forgotten a sister? I hope this conversation continues. Inquiring minds want to know…you know.
Alas…
Liliane probably doesn’t know how to explain that Laurence is not really her sister, as such, but a clone of Flore.
Flore always imagined she had a twin sister, so she readily accepted Laurence as such. But for Liliane its harder to forget where Laurence really came from.
And so the Great Laurence Transgender Debate continues!
Laurence might be a boy??
Nah. That was just something Marie-Neige wished she was. A cross-dressing boy, though, not a transgender.
If she was trans, Laur would have been the first non-redheaded m2f trans I seen in webcomics.
Does that count as a “Shrug of God”? http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/ShrugOfGod
The answer would have been more noncommittal if it was.
Yeah, I was pretty honest up there.
I’m not seeing the “trans” thing at all. I’d been assuming that Laurence was an “imaginary friend” from Flore’s childhood who had somehow persisted, and crossed over into reality (given that this is a “reality” which also contains a green-haired girl with superhuman powers)
I posted my theory earlier, but still, I think Laurence was an imaginary friend, then some villain stole Liliane’s notes about Laurence (“talking bears, space, imaginary twin sisters… It’s well documented actually”) and recreated her via advanced technologies, including cloning and stuff.
Laur was like Snuffy from Sesame Street?
Me too, but Winter IS Comming.
The Plains of Abraham, covered with snow?
Is that blue and purple shop girl in the background of the first panel? And Eleonore in the last?
Purple shop girl is my favorite shop girl. I don’t know why. But I wish her the very best jobs.
You are right on both accounts. Eleonore is still spying on Gaia from afar. :)
Also, the purple haired girl with the dog in the first panel is Noemie.
Ah, I wouldn’t have guessed that.
I didn’t even notice her hair was purple on my other screen. I may need to try recalibrating its colors.
So she has a dog. I think one of Suzie and Marianne had a dog too, right? (From back when Chloe and Gaia were training in the park.)
