I guess Laurence is the David Bowie of the group of “Reginas” that make up the group Frivolesque… Just pops up for about 4 minutes and disappears…
The fact that Clementine also saw Laurence seems to invalidate my theory that Laurence is some sort of “Space Oddity” that can cause space-time itself to break “Under Pressure…”
… I have to go listen to the Thin White Duke now…

That’s a nice development. I actually have a soft spot for this peacefully-mysterious type of atmosphere, like in the Anime series Air. And Kanon. (Ignoring Clannad really hard. -_-)
I’m curious what kind of explanation you will come up with. Was she in the box, like in Drop Dead Fred? Does that mean her filler with Mr. Toad are canon? Can she only be seen by really nice people (and therefore not by her other sister), like the Smurfs?

I only meant that she isn’t “really nice”, like the very very well-behaved people who may be allowed to see the smurfs. Or Laurence.
On the cast page you describe her as a businesswoman and that kind of person has to be tough. Playing nice in an FBI’ish organization is going to get you or your subordinates killed. So she can be nice at heart, but not nice enough to see Laurence. That’s my theory, anyway. :-)
Buuuut, after reading the next page I am already saying good-bye to this theory, because Marie-Neige can see her as well.

Okay. Theory time!
Lilliane is actually incredibly near sighted! This caused her to squint a lot as a kid resulting in a constant angry expression and inability to recognize her other sister Laurence thinking it was just double vision. Those shades are actually corrective lenses! Soon she will meet and acknowledge her sister for the first time!

I think Laurence is Flore’s clone, created by Liliane so that Flore can have a friend (but something gone wrong and Laurence was considered gone missing until now). Or maybe she was created by Broken-Hearted Lady as a part of elaborate plan to mess with Liliane.
That one made me laugh, because there have been a few pages where I told Dez about his habit of drawing his characters cross-eyed and how I thought it was cute. XD Unfortunately it hasn’t happened (much) ever since, but any theory about anything has quite a bit of bonus weight in the Frivolesque universe if it involves a squint.
Soon, a special where everyone has their glasses off and squint all the time.
Maybe Laurence is too colorful a character, and Liliane can’t see her because she’s colorblind.
Hmm, now I’m really starting to wonder know whether Flore can see things others can’t see, or whether Liliane can’t see things other can see. I guess Flore’s going to have to try and introduce her friends to Nergal, to see if they can see him.
Daniel here. This seems to add weight to a little theory I’ve quietly had for a while-
Laurence is a being who can travel between realities, normally content to stay in the reality created by Flore’s mind. She’s been able to push slightly into the “Real World” (Flore’s home reality) ever since the 2 of them were children, but she could only cross over far enough that Flore (& maybe her Dad) could see her. Now she can cross over at will, any time she wants. And the reason Laurence looks so much like Flore is simply because Laurence IS the Flore of her home reality, calling each other “sister” is easier than “trans-dimensional version of myself”, & shows a close bond between the 2…
Could go into more detail than that, but I’ll keep it relatively simple. And no, it didn’t take that long to come with that theory, overpowered brain + knowledge of multiple reality theories + overactive imagination + dash of insanity = 1 “Master” Original character who regularly travels between dimensions, bit-more-than-occasionally runs into another version of himself…

It’s kind of easy to forget that this comic has some weird, possibly supernatural elements in it at times.
The way I see it, Chloe and Marie are the more “geeky slice of life” elements, Saki and Gaia are the “sci-fi, action” elements and Flore brings the “mysterious, supernatural” side.
Or really, I had no idea what I was going to do with this comic initially and just threw random characters into the mix.
