122 – Deduction
Remember, even though the Delphine strips were months ago, this is still the same day in the Frivoverse.
I don’t think Clementine will ever be able to deal with other people without running away.

M-N, the best way to deal with stalker girls like Clem is to “stalk her”, if you catch my drift!.
(◍•ᴗ•◍)
Man.
DUDE! :P
It’s not stalking it’s aggressive friendship!
There’s a few girls in this comic who are guilty of this.
you’d think someone with that much vitamin C would be a little more lively and in your face social wise hahah.
like Strange Juice!!!
Yeah, I always thought her vitamin C thing was quite out of character. And yay. I LOVE Punch Line.
yeah i knew you’d like that reference haha. and Clementine just needs to spend some quality time with Marie-Neige to peel of that shy outer rind. i, um, may have been trying a little to hard with that last pun. eh?
I actually smiled at it.
Heh heh, glad my armour doesn’t work like that… :P
Thanks to you, I am now watching Punch Line. Why did I not know about this anime sooner?!
It does look a bit like a cliche-ecchi-harem anime at first, and remains that way until episode 4 I guess, but then, it gets much more original and interesting.
Just finished it. A lot better than what I had originally thought, though I figured after watching the clip above, it couldn’t be any worse than I thought. Added it to my MAL list with an 8/10.
you’re welcome hahaha
But hikikimori are awesome…
Perhaps some are. Not that anyone would ever find out.
Are they? I had a roommate like that, and she wasn’t fun. :P
Not that I’d know otherwise, they rarely get out, so I don’t get to meet ’em.
Kiri Komori is best hikikimori.
Aw. Zetsubou Sensei. Such a great show.
“Une bonne retraite vaut mieux qu’un mauvais combat.” :P
You know, it seems somehow ironic that they are in the strategy games section ;)
Lol. Yeah, you’re right.
“I don’t think Clementine will ever be able to deal with other people without running away.”
If Hanako can learn to, so can Clementine
Hanako from what? ^^
My guess is Hanako the burn victim from Katawa Shoujo.
Correct, I was hoping someone would get the reference
Marie-Neige seems more than willing to exploit the whole “stalker” situation. But she apparently hasn’t figured out that Clem is still uncomfortable with the whole lesbian concept, not to mention that the term “stalker” is rather pejorative. And she has to remember that one simply does NOT confront Clementine if one wants a positive response.
Marie-Neige is so forward, she can’t possibly understand how a girl who is her complete opposite can feel about the whole situation. Most of the people she hands out with are also quite comfortable with her antics. Flore could be the only one Marie-Neige isn’t able to figure out, but unlike Clementine, Flore isn’t especially shy.
I did notice in the final panel that it’s at least possible that Marie-Neige may have realized that she blew it. Maybe…
I wonder. Clementine will be back, and Marie knows it.
Too true…unfortunately. I appreciate Clem’s interest, but she’s got to work on that self respect issue.
You’re right.
I think that Marie-Neige is enjoying herself thoroughly. I am as well. :)
She sure is.
Definitely an enjoyable interaction for most…
Aw, look at her awkwardly trying to start a conversation in that first panel.
She tried.
More like fishing I think ;)
I take that back. Clem in panel three is my new, NEW phone wallpaper. >.>”
I’ll flood you with cute Clementine pics.
…and in return, those cute Clem pics will cause him to flood.
Your humor is getting more and more questionable.
Which proves that I’m doing it right! ^^_^
Don’t tempt me, Dez…
Don’t temp me…. >.>””
I always knew talking to people IRL will do me no good. I’m done with it. M-N, get the hell outta your room, I’m starting my hikkikomori life with Delphine.
Don’t call me. Ever.
So I ship Clif08 and Delphine.
Aww. Replaying Fallout 3 somehow convinced me a week had gone by and it was Monday again.
No such luck.
I can’t work so fast.
I wouldn’t expect you to! Clawing one’s way out of Vault 101 tends to distort perception of time, though.
=\
I have no idea what hikkikomori means… and I lived in Japan as a child (Okinawa, my dad was in the Navy), and for six months as an adult (Osaka, where I worked on Universal Studios Osaka before its opening).
I guess I don’t watch enough Japanimation to be relevant any more?
So you never heard about hikkikomori in the news or docos? Basically they are people who retreat from the real world, lock themselves in their bedroom and spend all their time on the internets.
When I was a kid, internet wasn’t a thing, and back in 2001, no, it wasn’t something that was discussed.
Also, Japan’s internet infrastructure wasn’t great in 2001, one had to go to net cafes for the most part for broadband type service.
I know this, because when out and about and I’d miss the last train back I’d often spend the night in a net cafe, reading comics, and drinking melon soda.
This may be a phenomena that has only recently been brought into the open?
Also, what are docos?
Docos are short for documentaries.
It means a shut-in. It’s been a thing in Japan lately, I guess. The term is getting more mainstream awareness, but it’s okay if you didn’t know what it meant. Marie-Neige always love to use random otaku terminology that nobody seem to understand.
The fact you use the word “Japanimation” betrays your age. ;)
Ah, the web 1.0 days.
Certainly, it was only my choice of vernacular, and not the references to a world before internet as a child, or the date when I was last in Osaka.
=D
It’s okay, we’re all old folks here.
…
Well, I sure am.
I NEED THE STAR TRECK CATANE!!!!
J’trouve ça drole, Alice, que ton icone c’est le p’tit gars qui fait rien. (David)
Et… va l’acheter! Ils l’ont a l’imaginaire. En français et en anglais je crois. ;)
STALKER!!! O_o That room mate talked to a stranger though, so not a complete hikkikomori, though
Yeah, I didn’t know it and now I’m curious :) In fact I had never heard of half of them before, and I’ve played any. Yup, no even classic Catan :)
Did someone here played some of them? Can you recommend any? Small Words seems like fun.
Just in case, the ones in the strip are (starting top left):
Small World.
Small World Underground
Settlers of Catan
Star Trek Catan
Agricola.
Terra Mystica.
Caverna.
Stone Age.
Power Grid.
*sigh* Intended to be a reply to alicepomme
no if only they would make one based on “MYST” the original game.
Ooh, that would be AWESOME :)
If only…
Will Wheton of “Star Trek: The Next Generation” fame has a web series called “Table Top” in which he and three guest stars play (mostly) board games. I know an episode exists for “Settlers of Catan” and “Small World” as well as “Ticket to Ride” in which his wife is one of the guests.
For “Star Trek Catan”, one of his guests was Jeri Ryan of “Star Trek: Voyager” fame. It was fun watching them do the various shakes and shimmies that Star Trek actors have to do to indicate ship hits and the like. :-)
That seems interesting. Thank you! :)
I found that they played also “Stone Age”. Four out of nine, not bad :)
I played all of them. The joke is, all of those games are games my brother and I own. I wanted to add more, but it got too time consuming after a while. Well, not Star Trek Catan, it’s just there because of the other Catan games.
Oh, same with Agricola. It’s there, but I never played it for some reason.
And they’re all fun. Catan is considered an entry-level game for European-style board games but it might have too much randomness for more serious players. Small World is quite fun too. My friends are quite addicted to it. Power Grid takes a long time to play, but it’s a fun management experience.
Caverna is extremely long and complex, but very fun once you get the hang of it. Same with Terra Mystica I guess. And Stone Age is a fun little Worker Placement game.
Not pictured in this strip are Ticket to Ride and Lords of Waterdeep, two other games we play a lot.
Agricola. Terra Mystica.Caverna. Great games Stone Age, Power Grid are good games. The rest are entry-level “gateway” games. Kudos to the artist for the detail on the games, as a boardgamer i am very impressed.
Hey, don’t diss my favorite games. (who always end up being Entry-Level, lol)
I find Terra Mystica and Agrigola to be way too long and complex to play them with anyone outside of the really few hard core board gamers I know. So even though they’re quite fun, they collect dust on our shelves. ;)
My wife and I fall into the hardcore gamer category i guess as we have over 250 games. We tend to no longer have time for the entry-level games as our group outplayed them long ago. Since they are all girls, i am surprised you didn’t have them holding Takenoko as it is often considered the gateway game for new female gamers. Is the store l’Imaginaire or the Librairie Donjon under Gabrielle Roy? Used to go there all the time. Oh, and seeing as they are all anglophone, did they go to QHS or St-Pats?
LOL. Like I replied the first time you asked :
The girls aren’t english speaking. They’re all speaking french, really, you’re just reading the english version for the audience’s convenience. :) In the main group, Flore is the only one who actually went to school in Quebec City though. Saki’s from BC, Gaia’s from god knows where, and Chloe and Marie-Neige grew up in the Mauricie region.
Also, they are in no real store, sadly. The place I wanted to use didn’t give me permission (I always like to ask first) so I came up with my own thing. Theyll probably visit the Donjon someday. (They already went to L’imaginaire last year)
Takenoko is super fun. And while I don’t consider myself a filthy casual, I still think Catan is one of my favorite games.
Thank you for the praise, though!
Most people assume I merely copy and pasted the actual game artworks in my comic, failing to see how I DID redraw everything myself. T_T
I don’t think Clementine will ever be able to deal with other people without running away.-
Which is why Marie-neige needs to use that rope.
Tie her down for good.
Clementine proves again to be another favorite of mine.
Then again it’s really hard to pick favorites because every character has good traits.
