302 – Madeleine and Florence
This is it. Happy 300th… even if I’m two strips late. XD
Drawing this was quite the challenge, I’m not used to full pages like this… and I’m afraid if I make too many, you won’t enjoy my 4koma style as much. (although I feel like chapter 7 has mostly outgrown the format anyway)
As for the content of the strip itself… I’ll let you guys draw your own conclusions for now.

Laurence nonsense? What does she mean, the idea that Laurence is a Lovecraftian lifeform or that Laurence even exists.
The latter.
TIL that Laurence has a lot in common with Snuffy from Sesame Street.
You should read the comment section better :P
It’s been mentioned at least two or three times. I never even heard of Snuffy before starting to read Frivolesque.
This reverse semblance is a little uncanny. Wow.
Technically, both Laurence and Flore had the same exact hairstyle as little girls, so it doesn’t mean much!
That’s cute old-timey sisters you have here. It would be a shame if something happened to one of them… oh wait
So Laurence ended up using Madeleine’s hairstyle. Does that mean her bubbly personality is an act as well and she is more like the serene character we saw when she was with her animals? I had been wondering about that personality change she had when she met the main cast, but I just chalked it up to her being nervous about joining the other main characters.
Real!World Laurence is indeed a bit different from her bizarro reality self. Glad you noticed.
Hehe, thanks!
Guess some twisted wish fulfilling happened. FloLaurence gets to live with a twin sister (kinda), but it’s a different person, and a hundred years have passed and she’s now a lovecraftian horror and she almost destroyed the world. Oh well. Could have been worse.
I gotta say, I really like this sepia page.
Okay, that sounds plausible, too.
I’ve been replaying Dead Space 2, and I’m uncomfortably reminded of Isaac’s hallucinations saying “Make us whole again”…
Only you, as an artist, determined you were going to make it past 300 comics.
Only you, my readers, gave me the willpower to continue this to this day.
For a certain value of ‘whole’…
(looks askance at the tag cloud, afraid of what he might see…)
And “Dreyfus?” Of course “L’affaire Dreyfus” has its own resonance, which resounds to this very day.
I took the most well known French Jewish name I could think of!
